A unique and rare tropical exotic fruit (Couepia polyandra) native to Central America that grows exceptionally well in Kerala. The oblong fruits turn a striking bright yellow to deep orange when ripe, featuring a highly unusual, dense, dryish flesh with a rich flavor reminiscent of sweet custard or egg yolk. These hardy trees are highly prolific self-pollinators and usually begin fruiting in 2–3 years.
